Rollo Skinner is a British artist, writer and botanical set designer. Based between Dorset and London, Rollo feels most at home amongst the trees in the woods by his family farmhouse, dreaming up stories and new creations with Ben (the family sheepdog who’s terrified of sheep).

Rollo spent most of his 20s feeling lost, particularly in his queerness. Reconnecting with nature has been fundamental in finding his way again. He realised that by creating things, he was recreating the self that he had lost along the way – his mission is to inspire others to do the same.

He founded Studio Rollo in the spring of 2021, a creative studio inspired by his love of all things nature. Splitting his time between his illustrations and botanical set design, he works internationally with clients across a variety of industries. His previous clients include: Barbour, Gucci, Soho House, Sony Music, Matches Fashion, Mr Porter, Harris Reed, ELLE Decoration, S.S. Daley, Luke Edward Hall, Tim Walker, Chateau Orlando, Acqua di Parma, Cabana Magazine, London Velvet, Brioni, Sunday Riley and Malone Souliers.

Just as the flowers and drawings started to grow, so too did Rollo’s writing. He found that the illustrations and stories he was working on were forming a book – one he knew would help many others. Queer by Nature is an illustrated fable, published in the Netherlands in June 2024. It is currently being translated into German, to be published by Harper Collins in Spring 2025.

Workshops

Rollo hosts creative retreats, and was invited to teach his Creative Nature workshop at Soho Farmhouse festival. His workshops involve freely expressing oneself with flowers and drawing, reconnecting people with their inner creative nature.
