Flowers Will Take You
Where you Need to Go
Curiosity is never frivolous. It illuminates your path to bright, unexpected, and glorious places.
For British Flowers Week 2025 at the Garden Museum, I had the great honour of being given the stage to create an installation on the theme of Cecil Beaton’s Garden Party. To pay homage to his vast array of limitless creative talents, I created a large painted hot-air balloon, as if lifting off, up, up and away, above the magnificent cloud topiary at Reddish House, his beloved Wiltshire home. Soaring on the fiery hues of lupins, set within in a tranquil meadow of foxgloves and white flowers to reflect the tranquility of the water meadow at Reddish.
It was an especially uplifting moment for me, as it brought together several of my mediums – flowers, trees, drawing, painting and spacial design. The piece stood as a celebration of the importance of adventure and play – and above all, of following your curiosity!
